Volunteer Schedule & Roles
Day 1: Post Setting & Heavy Lifting
Saturday, May 9th
Focusing on layout, digging through roots, and setting 26 posts in concrete.
Roles Needed:
- Pickup Truck Team (2-3 people): Morning logistics. Pick up rented hydraulic auger from Lowe's, then transport 40 bags of concrete, 4x4 posts, and gravel to the site.
- Auger Team A (3 people): Operating the rental auger, hand-clearing roots, and digging holes.
- Auger Team B (3 people): Operating the second rental auger, clearing roots, and digging holes.
- Setting Team: Plumbing posts, adding gravel base, mixing/pouring concrete.
Day 2: Fence & Berm Construction
Saturday, May 16th (Backup: May 23rd)
Building the 90-degree top cap, middle rails, and the bottom berm structure to hold back fill dirt.
Roles Needed:
- Carpentry Team: Measuring, cutting, and driving structural screws for the 2x6 and 2x4 rails.
- Berm & Earthwork Team: Installing the bottom retaining rails and backfilling dirt/iron ore to stabilize the trail edges.
Tools Needed
For Day 1 (Post Setting)
- Work gloves & Safety glasses
- Sharpshooter shovels (crucial for roots)
- Post-hole diggers
- Wheelbarrows for concrete/dirt
- Tape measures & String lines
- Post levels
- Generator
- reciprocating saws for roots
- Note: Hydraulic augers are already rented and provided.
For Day 2 (Fence Building)
- Impact drivers (18V or 20V preferred)
- T-star / Torx bits for structural screws
- Circular saws (cordless is a plus)
- Miter saw (if anyone can bring a portable setup)
- Speed squares & Tape measures
- Work gloves
